Ontario’s Residential Tenancies Act (the Act) gives residential landlords and tenants specific rights and responsibilities.  This section provides information about the Act, the main rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants, and the process for applying to the Landlord and Tenant Board to resolve disputes.

    The Board has several brochures that provide information about the rights and responsibilities of landlords and tenants under the Residential Tenancies Act and the process for applying to the Board to resolve disputes.  Here, you will find brochures on a variety of topics, including:  A Guide to the Residential Tenancies Act, Ending a Tenancy, If a Tenant Doesn’t Pay Rent, Important Information about Your Hearing, Information for New Tenants, Maintenance & Repairs, Mobile Homes & Land Lease Communities, Rent Rules, etc.

    Multiple Language Brochure – The Board’s brochure called “A Guide to the Residential Tenancies Act” provides a summary of important topics covered by the Act.  This brochure is available in English, French and ten other languages.
