Accessibility and Human Rights at the BoardThe Board provides its services in accordance with the provisions of the Ontario Human Rights Code, the Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2001 and the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. The Board aims to provide an inclusive and accessible environment in which all members of the public have equal access to its services, and are treated with dignity and respect. The Board is committed to providing services without discrimination based on the grounds set out in the Code: race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status and disability. The Board is committed to providing accommodation to persons with specific needs related to Code grounds. The Board will maintain the principles of dignity and respect throughout the accommodation process. The Board has developed a Policy on Accessibility and Human Rights. You can obtain a printed copy of this policy at any Board office location. You can also read the policy on our website, or download a PDF version of the policy. Making a Request for Accommodation You can make a request to the Board for accommodation under the Code by any of the following methods: In writing If you make your request in writing you can use the form called Additional Services Available to you at your Hearing. Click here to download a copy of the form. The Additional Services Available to You at Your Hearing form may be filed in person at any of the Board’s office locations or it can be sent by mail or fax. Or, you can write us a letter indicating the type of accommodation you require. Make sure to include your Board application file number if you have one. If you are not a party to an application at the Board, make sure to indicate this on the Additional Services Available to You at Your Hearing form or in your letter. By phone or in person If you prefer to make your request by phone, you can contact the Board at 416-645-8080 from within the Toronto calling area, or toll-free at 1-888-332-3234 from outside Toronto. If you communicate using a teletypewriter (TTY), you can contact the Board through the Bell Relay service at 1-800-268-9242. You can also visit one of our offices and make your request in person to one of the Board’s Client Service Representatives (see above link for office locations). Make sure to include your phone number, or another method by which we can contact you.
